Does everyone remember New Years Eve 1999, you know remember Y2K? I was working that night on orders of the Colonel so was my Captain and 1 of the 2 Lieutenants, a police station that after 10pm is normally empty save for the dispatcher on duty and maybe 1 officer, the few others working being out on the road. But not this night, everyone had gotten so worked up over the fear of the computers all crashing that the government was afraid even planes would be falling out of the sky. It was one stupid thing, I'll tell you. There we are every person that can be found put on duty leaving the day and evening shift scraped clean. Every supervisor was ordered on duty except 1 Lt and 1 Sgt to cover the next day and evening shift. Then what happens, absolutely nothing. We've got kersoene heaters stockpiled and every crusier had to be full of gas prior to midnight, extra ammo on hand and riot gear ready. Biggest non event I ever attended.

Whichever clown thought of the y2k joke must of had a really great laugh at the world.
